What changes the price
- Memory and storage — the biggest factor after the model: 8GB→16GB adds about a fifth on Apple silicon, 256GB→512GB about a tenth.
- Condition — AppleCare, "grade A" and the box add a few percent; "fair condition" takes off about 10%.
- Locks — iCloud or MDM (work) locked = parts value only.
Questions
Does RAM matter for MacBook resale?
Yes. On Apple silicon 16GB sells for roughly a fifth more than 8GB of the same model.
Where do the cheapest MacBooks come from?
Private sellers on Facebook Marketplace, Gumtree and Vinted, and eBay listings whose title doesn't name the chip.
