How to flip consoles in the UK
By Artem Kulyk, founder of PathAu · Updated 27 October 2026 · Numbers from PathAu's own data, refreshed daily
Consoles are the easiest electronics to flip: one model, one price, quick to test, easy to post. The money is in buying under the used price — and in not buying the covers, the empty box or the locked one.
In the last 30 days PathAu found 968 consoles listed at least £30 under what they sell for (median gap £50); of the 254 we tracked, 69% were gone within an hour.
What used consoles sell for
| Model | Median eBay UK sold price |
|---|---|
| Xbox Series S | £209 |
| PS5 Disc | £394 |
| PS5 | £350 |
| Xbox Series S 512GB | £236 |
| Xbox Series X | £433 |
| Switch Lite | £70 |
| PS5 Digital | £364 |
| PS5 Slim Digital | £391 |
| PS4 Slim | £78 |
| Switch OLED | £126 |
Every model: used console prices.
How to check one
- Read the whole title: "console covers", "disc drive for PS5", "box only" are not consoles.
- A sealed console under the used price is a deal — or a scam: buy only with the platform's checkout.
- In person: switch it on, sign in to the store, run a game, check the disc drive and ports.
- Banned or modded consoles sell for far less — ask, and check the account screen.
Where the cheap ones are
Facebook Marketplace and Gumtree for local pickups (the fastest flips), Vinted for "just want it gone" sellers, eBay auctions in their last minutes.
Questions
Is flipping consoles profitable in the UK?
It can be: popular models sell within days, and private sellers often price under the used median. Margins are smaller than on gaming PCs, so speed and volume matter.
What sells fastest?
PS5 and Xbox Series S/X, then Switch OLED and Steam Deck. Older consoles sell, but for little.
