# How we price used parts

Every number on these pages is a price we use ourselves: when a used PC is listed, we split it into
its parts and value each one with these medians.

## What counts

- Sold listings on eBay UK, condition Used, from sellers in the UK.

- The price the buyer paid. For private sellers this includes eBay's buyer protection fee.

- Each sale is counted once, by its listing number.

## What doesn't

- Faulty, for parts, box only, cooler only and similar listings.

- Whole PCs, laptops and bundles: a kit with a CPU is not the price of the board.

- Job lots and multi-packs, and accepted Best Offers, where eBay hides the real price.

- A sale only counts for a model when the title names it exactly: an RTX 3060 is not an RTX 3060 Ti,
a Ryzen 5 5600 is not a 5600X, a 16GB kit sold as 2×8GB counts as 16GB.

- Outliers far from the rest, by the interquartile rule.

## The window

Markets move at different speeds, so each kind of part has its own window: memory 21 days,
drives 30, consoles 30, graphics cards 45, processors, boards and power supplies
60. The typical price is the median of the sales left. A model needs at least 8 sales to get a page.

## Where it can be wrong

A median says nothing about one particular card: its condition, its box, its warranty. When a listing is far below
the median, a fault or a scam is more likely than a bargain. We check, but we don't promise any single sale price.
